ABOUT ANDOVERSFORD F.C.

Andoversford Football Club is a England Accredited amateur association football club based in Andoversford, Gloucestershire, England, that compete in the Gloucestershire County Women's Football League and The Seven Valley Youth League. The club is known as Andoversford or 'The Ford'.

BRIEF HISTORY

Andoversford Football Club was founded in 1903, 2 years after Andoversford Cricket Club that had also been established in the village in 1901.

Not a great deal is known of the clubs history until the

1930's where it is known that the Clubs most famous

player Tim Ward played for The Ford in the Cheltenham

League. Tim later went on to sign for Cheltenham Town

then joining Derby County, gaining 2 full England Caps.

He later went on to manage Derby County in the 60's.

In the 1960's there was the formation of Andoversford Sports Club, encompassing both the cricket and football clubs, although both now are run as separate entities.

Various teams continued throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's with varying success. In the mid 00's the club was sporting a men's senior 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and junior teams ultimately gaining promotion to the Gloucestershire North senior League before disbanding in 2021.

Andoversford wasn't without football for long, when in 2022 a Andoversford Women's Team was created for the first time in the Club's history.

AFC Women joined the Gloucestershire Women's League in 2022/23 season and continue to play there to this day.

In this time Andoversford FC became an official partner of HerGameToo who is a passionate movement dedicated to tackling sexism and promoting gender equality within the world of sport.

In just a short few years of the current management,  Andoversford Football Club has also become a England Football Accredited Club meaning the club creates the experiences and environments where players, coaches and volunteers can thrive. Accredited clubs are more sustainable, more resilient and built to last.

In 2024 the Club brought back youth with the new U17's team who play in the Seven Valley Youth League.

THE BADGE

There have been many variations of the badge over the years. However, from 2003 up to 2021 the badge consisted of the AFC Letters in yellow surrounded with a black oval and the Club Name and nick name 'The Ford' with the reformed club date of 2003.

In 2022 when the new Women's Team was born the badge changed from oval to round. The centre of the badge was based on 'AW' (Andoversford Women), with Andoversford WFC and two football's over rivers to signify the River Coln and the Ford to where Andoversford got it's name.

In 2023 the badge got a slight face lift as the 'WFC' was dropped and Andoversford 'Football Club' now added. In addition, the centre of the badge was updated with the original founded date of the club (1903) and incorporated The Cotswold District Coat of Arms after special permission was given by the council to use it.

THE BADGE TODAY

After two years of the club being re-established and the addition of an U17's team, the badge had a complete rework. To celebrate over 120 years of the club, the badge now represents both the past and present of the Club and Andoversford as a historic village.
